Let’s,
for a moment, assume that our world is designed by a
supreme, almighty deity, Divine for short. Then, the difference
between right and wrong, good and bad, is also revealed to us by
Divine. And we see and we go through a lot of wrong and bad in our
lives, pains and sufferings, sins, a lot of evils, all designed by
Divine. Why is She doing this? I wouldn’t expect anything like
that from Her even if She is He or none from above.
Further,
let’s assume that Her design is intelligent. Then, the
wrong and bad are created on purpose, they are intelligently wrong
and intelligently bad. We can’t assume intelligent
"oops" in Her design, don’t we? But why is evil so
deeply rooted in Her creation blueprint? For instance, why She
created life and then guided it into such brutal surviving
strategy called evolution? Our own position on the evolution- ary
tree indicates the lack of intelligence in Her design.
In
recount, hence, the above assumptions of the Devine intelligent
design are hard to accept without challenging. The argument
against Devine is twofold: (1) Devine fails to prevent the evils,
the pain and sufferings of Her creations; (2) Devine herself
perpetrates evil. Actually, (1) is quite perceivable in the frame
of (2).
Now,
I don’t see even a remotely logical possibility that Divine
exists. How, though, should I cope with religious people I like
and/or have to communicate? It takes an effort to constrain
myself, quite an effort in my inflexible attitude. By the record,
I don’t do it well, there are skeletons along the way.
