According to Iseljenici otoka Brača by K.
Derado and I. Čizmić (Brački Zbornik 13, 1982), 712 persons
emigrated from Bol in the time period from 1864 to 1940. It was
economic emigration, in contrast to the emigration during and after
the Second World War which was political predominantly. As high as
this emigration was for a settlement of population below two
thousand, it has to be noticed that this is recorded, legal
emigration only - while illegal was also high.
Half
of all the emigrants went to Argentina, 51.0% to be more precise,
then 22.9% to USA and 13.2% to Chile, which makes 87.1% to Americas.
Far away Australia and Italy in the neighborhood fare equally with
5.3%.
