rare peaceful times and rare earths of Afghanistan

This week, on the 10th anniversary of the US military involvement in Afghanistan, stories of American soldiers being tired and gloomy multiply. So, why they are there? Fighting terrorists, stupid, that’s an idle answer. But maybe, just maybe, some- thing else is in the game. Something rare, like rare earths. And heavy metals, too, why discriminate. Apparently, Scientific American in its October 2011 issue suggests exactly that [ROLLOVER].
