Recently, the press
is flooded with the warnings related to China rising as economic and
military power; see the typical titles on the left, including a
respectable The Economist. Somehow, in a public eye, as China
is emerging as No.1 here and there, it becomes evident that
the process may continue to everywhere.
A
world with USA being overall No.1 sounds nice, at least to
Americans, but what’s wrong with China being overall No.1? Western
social analysts admit that Chinese show a passion for education and
self-improvement - along with remarkable capacity for discipline and
hard work - but that China still must become a more open and
democratic society. The map below shows how world power players were
introducing liberty and democracy into China from 1842 to 1911.
Well, not the greatest blueprint in history. Have you heard the one
about how there’s been a change in the human nature? |
