My
Olympus C-750 UZ digital camera went out of service five weeks ago.
A minor repair was needed (the battery compartment cover was broken)
and I sent the camera to an official Olympus service center. The
answer was devastating: this particular model is not supported any
more, no spare parts. They offered to me a newer refurbished camera
SP-565 UZ for $243 and, unfortunately, I took the bite.
"Refurbished to full factory specifications" they say in
the accompanying letter but the only thing I could get from this
refurbished camera was the message "ERROR ZOOM" on the
screen and some rattling sound of partially extended lens. I’m
expecting refund, however, the highlight of my misery is the fact
that I can’t get my old C-750 back (!!), it’s Olympus service
policy.
I
liked my C-750 very much. From the first shot on March 20, 2004 till
the last one on Jan 22, 2010 (I’ve used a rubber band to keep
battery compart- ment closed), I took 8510 photos. A huge number (an
average of 3.9 photos daily!) and humans are on less than hundred of
them. More than thousand of them are in various chapters of this
website.
The
photo on the right, a winter view from our rear window, was next to
the last.
