Not so great Croatia & not so great Serbia : Last week Croatia marked the 16th anniversary of its interna-tional recognition. On Jan. 15, 1992 in the midst of the war against the militias and the army of "Greater Serbia" and with a third of its territory under Serbian occupation, 12 European Community countries recognized Croatia. While Croatia survived within the borders assigned to the former Yugoslav republic of Croatia, many consequences of the war still are the Croatian reality. Thousands of land mines are a demonstrative example, but more frightening is the Croatian nationalism: unburied from the past, well fed by the Serbian equivalent, it overwhelms Croatian social mind and misguides Croatian politicians.

Greater Croatia & Greater Serbia

So, how are Croatia and Serbia doing nowadays? Croatian and Serbian nationalists wouldn’t tell you that, they are busy digging into the past, but The Heritage Foundation  will.
