Tornado
in the Hvarski Kanal, at the southwestern seashore of Brač
a
view from Grabov Rat
On
August 4, 2006 a tornado (a waterspout, to be more precise, as it
was a tornado over water) hit the sea of Hvarski
Kanal (the sea channel between the islands of Brač and Hvar),
close to the southwestern seashore of the island of Brač.
It is a very rare event for that part of Europe. Two successive
funnels were formed within about five minutes; when the second one
was vanishing, multiple but weak vortices appeared - one of my
photos documents four of them. |
