Fall in our Boulder garden.

There are thousands proverbs and quotations on friendship, not quite with the same message, from "Friends are God's way of taking care of us" to "Oh, God, save me from my friends and I’ll take care of my enemies". Is term ‘friend’ used too broadly or it reflects some deeper timidity in human nature?

Many of my friends became my enemies,

many enemies become friends -

only those who never cared either way

remained constant.

Stanislav J. Lec: Unkempt thoughts, St Martin's Press, New York, 1962.

Hmm... Was J. Lec aware of "the only way to have a friend is to be one" by R.W. Emerson ?
