Garden sage in our Boulder garden.

The day before yesterday was my birthday.

Yesterday was my birthday. I’m not going to tell you how old I was because I hate being that old but I will tell you it’s plenty. When anyone comes up to me and says, "Happy Birthday", I just look them in the eye and I say, "You must be kidding".

What in the world is there to be happy about being a year older? Age is a defect which we never get over. The only thing worse than having another birthday is not having another one.

There’s nothing wrong with being my age. I feel fine. I love working. I love playing. I love life. The bad thing about it is, I’m constantly aware that there isn’t much of it left.

... and what is all that big fuss of being 65. I’m glad

I can now tell I’m not. Because I’m 66.
